Freedom of Information

Your rights under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) gives you a right of access to recorded information held by public authorities, subject to certain exemptions.

The FOIA applies to the vast majority of public authorities, including the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire.  If you ask us for information we will let you know in writing whether we hold information you have asked for and if we do, provide the information to you within 20 working days, unless it is subject to an exemption.  We also have a duty to provide advice or assistance to you or anyone seeking information (for example in order to explain what is readily available or to clarify what is wanted).

Our Publication Scheme

Under the FOIA all public authorities, including the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire, must have a Publication Scheme setting out the information we routinely make publicly available. Most of the information detailed in the scheme is published on the Commissioner’s website.

A copy of our Publication scheme can be accessed through the following link:  FOIA Publication scheme (Dec 2014)

Manual of Guidance

A Manual of Guidance has been produced to explain the way in which the Commissioner will deal with requests for information under the provisions of the FOIA and exactly what members of the public can expect from us.  The Manual provides an explanation covering all aspects of the implementation and application of the FOIA, including how to submit a request and a review of the key exemptions the Commissioner is likely to use and why.

A copy of the Manual of Guidance can be accessed through the following link:  FOIA Manual of Guidance
