Prestigious awards have been given to people from across the county for their outstanding contribution to the community.

The High Sheriff Awards were presented at a special ceremony held at Lincoln Crown Court last night (Apr 4).

The winners were presented with their awards by Recorder of Lincoln, His Honour Judge John Pini, QC and the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire Andrew Clark DL, for their significant contribution to the well-being of the community in Lincolnshire.

The award winners were:

  • Alison Goddard – Lincolnshire Action Trust
  • Sgt Russ Makinson – RAF Digby Joint Services Signals Unit (D)
  • Councillor Terl Bryant – South Kesteven District Council (Posthumous)
  • Mental Health Practitioners Team – Lincolnshire Police
  • PCSO Nigel Wass – Lincolnshire Police
  • Wayne Allerby and Pamela Wilson – Ghetto Lincs CIC Grimsby
  • Dr Amr Ahamed – Lincoln Muslim Sisters Forum
  • Alan Maskell – Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue

Mr Clark said he was honoured to be able to recognize the work, passion and commitment of the men and women who devote their time to helping the communities they serve.

“I was humbled by the stories of what these extraordinary people are doing to serve and protect the residents of this area,” he said.

“I am delighted to be given an opportunity to personally thank them for their efforts and to provide them with some recognition for the incredible work they do every day.”

Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones, who had nominated PCSO Nigel Wass and the Mental Health Practitioners Team at Lincolnshire Police, said the ceremony had been a fantastic opportunity to hear about the amazing work being done by individuals and organisations across the county.

“The work done by the winners is truly remarkable. There are so many people who go to enormous lengths to make their communities happier, healthier and safer,” he said.

“They richly deserve the recognition they have received for their work and I know many people across the county have benefitted from their tireless dedication and commitment.”

Mental Health Practitioners Team is a project launched by the PCC in partnership with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and deploys nurses in Lincolnshire Police’s control room to help officers deal with incidents involving mental health issues.
