A new police training and conferencing venue for Lincolnshire Police will soon welcome the next cohort of student officers.
Based in Skegness, the development is housed in the old Magistrates’ Building on Park Avenue which was purchased with a view to providing a state-of-the art training space in the East of the county.
The first group of 30 student officers who will use the building will land on April 6th, when they will be one week into their training.
The development, which has been a project developed by the Force, PCC Marc Jones and East Lindsey District Council, means new recruits will no longer have to travel to Lincoln for training and it will help recruit and retain local officers.
PCC Marc Jones said the development was an important step in the development of the East Coast and presented a great opportunity to grow recruitment in the area.
“I am delighted this project has taken a significant step forward with the grant earmarked from the Government,” he said.
“I have no doubt the new facility will prove to be a very positive asset for the force and for the people of Skegness and beyond.”
Funding for the development has been helped along with Government funding, with a £1.3m grant offered for the build. It will be named after former Skegness Sgt Arthur Troop BEM who founded the International Police Association in 1950.
The old Court building is connected to Skegness police station and has a direct access route to the custody suite as well as other shared utilities and provides the perfect footprint and functionality for the force to have a venue that can deliver a variety of training options.
